REALLY large flat support.
« on: February 19, 2011, 03:07:29 pm »
This is yet another SRB2 related request that I have. SRB2 can support flats that are as large as 4096 x 4096. Why anyone would make flats that large? I am not sure, but it can certainly do it. So in addition to 256 x 256 flats that SLADE already supports, srb2 supports 512 x 512, 1024 x 1024, 2048 x 2048 and 4096 x 4096.

If you like me or someone else to test to see if these types flats actually do work without actually putting it into SLADE, then maybe you can upload lumps that have flats that are that large so I can insert them in a test WAD.

SRB2 uses this for the palette, if you need it.

Should be simple enough to add, I just never thought anything/anyone would bother with flats > 256x256.

512*512 flats were already supported. If you want larger resolutions, you really should get your engine to load PNG or some other format with compression. 4096x4096 is 16777216 bytes. You would likely be able to reduce that to a tiny fraction of the size with a good compression.
